Genesis 4-6

Genesis 4-6

Genesis 4 tells the story of Cain & Abel. Cain brought the Lord an offering from the ground, and Abel brought the Lord an offering of the 1st of his flock, and the fat. Because Abel gave the first and best to God, he was pleased with his offering, and did not have respect for Cain's offering. Cain was angry. God asked him why he was mad and told him that if he is good, he will be accepted, but if he does not do well, sin will be waiting to over take him and that he should control it. Cain killed Abel. God cursed Cain, who was a farmer, saying that the land would no longer produce for him. Cain fled to the land of Nod.

Genesis 4:1 I have gotten a man child from the Lord.  (Close to my heart, as I have 4 boys!)

Genesis 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou does not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt  rule over him.

Genesis 5 tells the family lines of Adam, beginning with the birth of Seth.

Genesis 4:25 ...For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

Genesis 6 begins the story of Noah and the flood. God saw that man was violent and had evil in his heart and regretted creating him. He decided to destroy man from the face of the earth. But God found favor in Noah, who was a good man who walked with God. God instructs Noah to build the ark.

Genesis 6:8-9 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. [...] Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
